Ball Joint Remover
Removal Procedure
Raise and support the vehicle on an alignment rack. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
Remove the outer tie rod nut.
Disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using the
KM-507-C
.
Mark the threads on the inner tie rod in order to aid in repositioning the adjusting nut.
Loosen the outer tie rod adjusting nut.
Remove the outer tie rod by twisting the outer tie rod off the inner tie rod.
Installation Procedure
Reposition the adjusting nut to the marks on the inner tie rod.
Install the outer tie rod by twisting the outer tie rod onto the inner tie rod.
Connect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the outer tie rod nut and tighten to
50 N·m (37 lb ft)
.
Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
Adjust the front toe. Refer to
Front Toe Adjustment
.
Tighten the outer tie rod adjusting nut and tighten to
64 N·m (47 lb ft)
.
Lower the vehicle.
