J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the front fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.

  4. Remove the battery box air duct.

  5. Object Number: 1327534  Size: SH
  6. Remove the condenser radiator fan module (CRFM) closeout panel.

  7. Object Number: 1327508  Size: SH
  8. Remove the receiver dehydrator from the condenser.
  9. Install a protective cap to the receiver dehydrator to prevent contamination and desiccant saturation.

  10. Object Number: 1332451  Size: SH
  11. Remove the compressor hose from the condenser.
  12. Install a protective cap to the compressor hose to prevent contamination and desiccant saturation.

  13. Object Number: 948980  Size: SH
  14. Remove the CRFM bracket bolts from the radiator support.
  15. Remove the CRFM brackets from the vehicle.

  16. Object Number: 1327527  Size: SH
  17. Lift the condenser while holding the upper retention tabs forward.

  19. Remove the condenser from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1327528  Size: SH
  1. Add the specified amount of PAG oil to the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .
  2. Inspect the radiator to condenser seals for the proper position.
  3. Install the condenser by guiding the tabs into the retention clips on the radiator.

  5. Press down on the condenser to engage the retention clips.

  6. Object Number: 948980  Size: SH
  7. Install the CRFM brackets to the vehicle.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the CRFM bracket bolts to the radiator support.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  11. Remove the protective cap from the compressor hose.
  12. Install a new sealing washer to the compressor hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  13. Install the compressor hose to the condenser.
  14. Install compressor hose nut to the condenser.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  16. Install a new seal washer to the receiver dehydrator. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  17. Install the receiver dehydrator to the condenser.
  18. Install the receiver dehydrator nut to the condenser.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  20. Install the CRFM closeout panel.

  22. Install the battery box air duct.
  23. Install the front fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  24. Evacuate and charge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  25. Test the affected A/C joints leaks using J 39400-A .
