Additional Diagnostics Using The Tech 2 On Equinox

Recommendation/Instructions:

The following information may be helpful when using the Tech 2 on a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox: There is not a "Vehicle Control Systems menu" (on the Tech 2) as seen in other GMLAN vehicle to access DTCs. To obtain DTCs, it will be necessary to enter each module one at a time. Below are some helpful tips when using the Tech 2 on this vehicle.

  1. The Candi module is required for EBCM and PCM DTCs. To clear EBCM of DTCs, the ignition switch must be cycled.
  2. If the ECM/TCM fuse in the UBEC, circuit 1440, or circuit to it is open, there will be no PCM communication whatsoever. On the other hand, if that circuit has power, the PCM needs to lose both ignition feeds (ptrn fuse circuit 743 and prndl/ptrn fuse circuit 639) or a ground to it to lose all data or communication.
  3. If the ABS has no communication, check for a loss of power on circuit 139 from the ABS 10a fuse in the UBEC. A loss of voltage on circuit 140 or 702 from the 20 or 40 amp mega fuse will not affect communication.

Note: The following modules will be the only ones available on the class 2 message monitor. BCM, RADIO, EPS, IPC, SDM, VCIM, and DMM.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
