05 Chevrolet Equinox Foul Odor from HVAC and/or Engine Coolant - kw GMT191 flush air 3.4 LNJ reservoir

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Engine coolant may have a foul odor. The odor may be drawn in from the HVAC when the fresh air mode is used.

Advised to flush the cooling system thoroughly using the following.

1. *Prestone® Flush and Fill Kit #AF-KITP U.S. (#00050 in Canada). This kit can be obtained from your local parts supplier and can be used on all vehicles repaired under this procedure. Save it after performing the repair, as it is reusable.
2. *Prestone® Heavy Duty Cooling System Cleaner, GM P/N 12346500 - 1 per vehicle. This cleaner is in powder form and contains a neutralizer. Do not substitute other cleaners. The diluted cleaners that are available in liquid form are not recommended for this repair.

Make sure to follow all the instruction with the Prestone® Flush and Fill Kit #AF-KITP U.S. (#00050 in Canada). Replace the reservoir tank if the tank is discolored severely.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
