Subject: | Service VME - Coolant Flushing Procedure |
Models: | 2005 Chevrolet Equinox |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
This service voicemail message is being sent to all Chevrolet dealers.
The topic of this message is an issue that has occurred on the Chevrolet Equinox when flushing the cooling system per Service Bulletin 04-06-02-010.
There have been several calls to Technical Assistance regarding engine over heating which have resulted in the replacement of several engines.
Failure to follow the Service Information procedures could result in sufficient air being trapped in the cooling system to prevent the circulation of coolant when the engine is started.
Obviously the lack of coolant circulation will result in damage to the engine. If an engine is damaged in this fashion it would be considered a workmanship issue and not a warrantable defect.
An alternative is to use the VAC-N-FILL tool (GE-47716) to remove trapped air from the cooling system.
This is Dave Peacy, Brand Quality Manager, Powertrain.
Thanks for listening.
