The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
The 2005 model year service replacement cylinder heads used on the 3.4L (RPO Code LNJ, VIN Code F) are no longer available from GMSPO.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If a replacement cylinder head is needed for a 2005 engine you must order a 2006 model year head. Because the 2006 heads use different rocker arms than the 2005, you must also order six 2006 rocker arms for use with each 2006 cylinder head ordered (only when being used on a 2005 engine). The 2005 model year rocker arms are NOT usable on the 2006 cylinder head.
Please be advised that if you attempt to order the 2005 cylinder head part number, GMSPO will supersede that number and send you the 2006 cylinder head.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
