Subject: | Any Upshift or Downshift Concern |
Models: | 2005-2006 Chevrolet Equinox |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Vehicle may have a delayed / harsh engagement, any upshift or downshift concern. The vehicle may or may not have a DTC present.
Recommendation/Instructions:
- Follow all basic published diagnostics that include checking proper fluid level @ 65°C on a known level surface.
- If a previous repair(s) have been performed, to include engine repair, radiator replacement, and collision repairs, which would result in draining or high loss of ATF, check prior repair order(s) for the usage of the correct part number fluid.
- If any DTCs are present follow the flow chart for the DTC.
- Attempt to duplicate the concern while using the Tech 2 to graph the following main inputs:
- Inspect the recorded event and inspect recording for any unwanted surge, erratic or drop in the signal(s).
Note: Vehicle will need to be driven under the conditions the customer states he / she is having the concern.
In some cases, the concern may only be duplicated only on certain roads at a specific speed.
- If the condition is duplicated and the recordings show one or more of the erratic signals as listed above, inspect connections at the ISS or OSS and the TCM harness connector in great detail for signs of internal damage or contamination that could
be causing the concern:
Note: Do not probe the TCM harness connectors in an attempt to check pin fit. These female terminals are very susceptible to pin damaged.
- If contamination is verified, attempt to verify the source of the contamination and make corrections as needed to prevent future concerns. To clean the electrical connector, follow approved safety practices and techniques
- If concern is not duplicated it may still be advisable to clean the connectors with connect cleaner and visually inspect for bent pins or poor connection.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
