J 39914 Serpentine Belt
Tensioner Unloader
Removal Procedure
- UsingJ 39914
rotate the drive belt
tensioner (8) to release the tension on the drive belt.
- Remove the drive belt from the right idler pulley (2).
- Carefully release J 39914
to relieve the drive belt tensioner spring tension.
- Remove J 39914
from
the drive belt tensioner (8).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the right front wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Loosen the lower belt idler pulley bolt.
- Remove the lower belt idler pulley and bolt from the engine front cover.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the lower belt idler pulley and bolt to the engine cover.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the engine splash shield. Refer to
Engine Splash Shield Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Install the right front wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Insure
the drive belt is properly centered on all the pulleys except the right idler pulley (3).
- Using J 39914
rotate
the drive belt tensioner away from the drive belt.
- Install the drive belt to the right idler pulley (2).
- Carefully release J 39914
allowing the drive belt tensioner (8) to come in contact with the drive
belt.
- Remove J 39914
from
the drive belt tensioner (8).
- Inspect the drive belt to insure the belt is properly centered on all
the pulleys (1-8).
