Important: Soak the new clutch plates in automatic transmission
fluid for at least 2 hours before replacing them.
Inspect that the sliding surface of the clutch plates are not worn or burnt.
If the clutch plates are worn or burnt, replace them.
Apply automatic transmission fluid to the new second clutch piston and
second clutch piston sleeve seals.
Install the new second clutch piston outer seal (209) onto the
second clutch piston (210).
Install the new second clutch piston sleeve seals (211, 213) onto
the second clutch piston sleeve (212).
Apply automatic transmission fluid to the inner surfaces of the fluid
pump stator shaft assembly.
Press the second clutch piston (210) and the second clutch piston
sleeve (212) into the fluid pump stator shaft assembly.
Install the second clutch spring assembly retaining
ring (214).
Install the second clutch spring assembly (215)
onto the second clutch piston with the spring side up.
Important: Make sure you have the correct number of
clutch plates, and that they are in the correct order.
Install the 3 steel plates (218) and the 3 fiber plates (217).
Install the second clutch backing plate (219).
Using
J 28585
install the second clutch backing plate retaining ring (220). Make sure that
the end gap of the retaining ring is not aligned with any of the cutouts.
