Removal Procedure

    Note: Place the transaxle in neutral (N).

  1. Remove the transmission wiring harness. Refer to Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness Replacement.

  2. Object Number: 749343  Size: SH
  3. Remove the 2 control valve body bolts/screws (31), control valve body fluid passage cover (37) and gasket (38).

  4. Object Number: 773157  Size: SH
  5. Remove the 6 control valve body mounting bolts/screws (1-6).

  6. Object Number: 749347  Size: SH
  7. While holding the control valve body assembly, disconnect the manual shift detent lever assembly (710) from the manual valve link (336).
  8. Move the detent lever assembly clockwise for ease of removing the manual valve.
  9. Remove the control valve body assembly (39).

  10. Object Number: 749350  Size: SH
  11. Remove the 2 transaxle case fluid passage seals (86).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 749350  Size: SH
  1. Install 2 new transaxle case fluid passage seals (86) into the transaxle case fluid ports.

  2. Object Number: 749347  Size: SH
  3. While holding the control valve body assembly (39), connect the manual valve link (336) to the manual shift detent lever assembly (710).

  4. Object Number: 749344  Size: SH
  5. Install the 6 control valve body assembly to transaxle case bolts and hand tighten.
  6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1258468  Size: SH
  7. Tighten the control valve body assembly-to-transaxle case bolts in sequence to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Object Number: 749343  Size: SH
  9. Install a new control valve body fluid passage cover gasket (38).
  10. Install the control valve body fluid passage cover (37).
  11. Install the 2 control valve body bolts (31) and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  12. Install the transmission wiring harness. Refer to Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness Replacement.
  13. After the transmission is reassembled and filled with fluid perform the transmission adaptive learn procedure. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Learn and Transmission Neutral Learn.
