Removal Procedure

    Note: Do not remove the drive belt from the vehicle entirely. Only slip it off the power steering pump and set it aside in the engine compartment.

  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
  3. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.

  5. Compress the power steering reservoir outlet hose clamp (1) and disconnect the power steering reservoir outlet hose (2) from the power steering pump.

  6. Object Number: 1818210  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose (1) from the power steering pump.

  8. Object Number: 1818216  Size: SH
  9. Remove the power steering pump bolts (1).
  10. Remove the power steering pump through the right wheelhouse area.
  11. Transfer the power steering pump pulley if needed. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering pump to the vehicle through the right wheelhouse area.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1818216  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering pump bolts (1) and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 1818210  Size: SH
  5. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose (1) to the power steering pump.
  6. Tighten the fitting to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Compress the power steering reservoir outlet hose clamp (1) and connect the power steering reservoir outlet hose (2) to the power steering pump.
  8. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  9. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  10. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
