Brake Warning Alarm Inoperative Low Fluid Pressure and Flow

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch ground stud for the BLK (150) wire and B+.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step  2

  1. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch.
  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch pin A and B+.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step  4

Repair the open in the BLK (150) wire between the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch and ground G112

Does the alarm sound?

--

System OK

--

Replace the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch.

Does the alarm sound?

--

System OK

--

  1. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid pressure alarm switch.
  2. Connect a self-powered test lamp between P/B booster fluid pressure switch connector cavity B and P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch connector cavity A for the DK GRN (860) wire.
  3. Test for continuity

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step  6

  1. Connect a self-powered test lamp between P/B booster fluid pressure switch pins A and B.
  2. Test for continuity, normally closed switch.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step  8

Repair the open in the DK GRN (860) wire between the P/B booster fluid pressure alarm switch and the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch.

Does the alarm sound?

--

System OK

--

Replace the P/B booster fluid pressure alarm switch.

Does the alarm sound?

--

System OK

--

  1. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module.
  2. Connect a self-powered test lamp between P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module connector cavity C and P/B booster fluid flow pressure indicator/alarm switch connector cavity A for the LT GRN (966) wire.
  3. Test for continuity.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step   10

Go to Step  11

Replace the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module.

Does the alarm sound?

--

System OK

Repair the open in the LT GRN (966) wire between the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module and the P/B booster fluid pressure alarm switch.

Does the alarm sound?

--

System OK

  1. Disconnect connector C208. Place the ignition switch in RUN.
  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between connector C208 pin A for the YEL (43) wire and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid flow alarm.
  2. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid flow and the pressure alarm delay module.
  3. Connect an ohmmeter between connector C208 cavity A for the YEL (43) wire and P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module connector cavity E for the YEL/BLK (965) wire.

Does the ohmmeter display the correct resistance?

1.5 Kohms

Is the RADIO-I fuse open?

Is the resistance much greater than the specified value?

1.5 Kohms

Is the resistance much less than the specified value?

  1. Connect a self-powered test lamp between connector C208 cavity A and P/B booster fluid flow alarm connector cavity B for the YEL (43) wire.
  2. Test for continuity.

Does the test lamp light?

Is there an open in the YEL (43) wire between connector C208 and in-line resistor R208?

Replace the shorted in-line resistor R208.

Is the alarm operative?

Connect a self-powered test lamp between P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module connector cavity E and P/B booster fluid flow alarm connector cavity A for the YEL/BLK (965) wire.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step  11

Locate and repair the open in the YEL (43) wire between in-line resistor R208 and the P/B booster fluid flow alarm.

Is the alarm operative?

--

System OK

Replace the P/B booster fluid flow alarm.

Is the alarm operative?

Locate and repair the open in the YEL/BLK (965) wire between the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module and the P/B booster fluid flow alarm.

Is the alarm operative?

System OK

Replace the RADIO-I fuse.

Is the alarm operative?

Repair the open in the YEL (43) wire between the APE fuse block and connector C208.

Is the alarm operative?

--

Repair the open in the YEL (43) wire between connector C208 and in-line register R208.

Is the alarm operative?

System OK

Is there an open in the YEL/BLK (965) wire between in-line resistor R208 and the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure delay module?

Locate and repair the open in the YEL/BLK (965) wire between in-line resistor R208 and the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure delay module.

Is the alarm operative?

System OK

Go to Step  18

If no open is found in the wire, replace the open resistor R208.
