DEFINITION: Battery indicator stays on when engine is running.

1. Turn OFF the engine.
2. Disconnect the BRN (25) wire connector from the generator. If equipped with dual generators disconnect both generators.

Does the battery indicator remain lit?

Replace the generator(s). Refer to Generator Replacement

System OK

1. Disconnect the connector at the instrument cluster.
2. Connect a self-powered test lamp between the generator connector cavity B (W/100 amp generator) or cavity L (W/124 amp generator) and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Locate and repair the short to ground in BRN (25) wire between the instrument cluster and the generator(s).

Is the repair complete?

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
