Was the Wiper/Washer System Check performed?

  1. Disconnect the connector at the windshield washer pump motor.
  2. Connect a J 39200 between the windshield washer pump motor connector cavity B in CKT 150 (BLK) and ground.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 3

Repair the open in CKT 150 (BLK) between the windshield washer pump motor and ground G201.

Is the washer pump still inoperative?

--

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the connector at the windshield wiper motor.
  2. Connect a J 39200 between the windshield washer pump motor connector cavity A in CKT 228 (RED) and ground.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Repair the short to ground in CKT 228 (RED) between the windshield wiper motor and the windshield washer pump motor.

Is the washer pump still inoperative?

--

Go to Step 6

Connect a J 39200 between the windshield washer pump motor connector A and the windshield wiper motor connector cavity E in CKT 228 (RED).

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 8

Repair the open in CKT 228 (RED) between the windshield wiper motor and the windshield washer pump motor.

Is the washer pump still inoperative?

--

Go to Step 8

  1. Reconnect the connector at the windshield wiper motor.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the windshield washer pump motor connector cavity A in CKT 228 (RED) and ground.
  4. Push and hold the PUSH washer switch on the multifunction lever.
  5. Observe the test lamp.
  6. After observing the lamp, release the switch.

Did the test lamp light?

Replace the windshield washer pump motor.

Is the washer pump still inoperative?

--

Go to Step 10

  1. Place the windshield washer/wiper switch in the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the connector at the windshield wiper motor.
  3. Connect a voltmeter between the windshield wiper motor connector cavity C in CKT 92 (PPL) and ground.
  4. Push and hold the PUSH washer switch at the multifunction lever.
  5. Read the indicated voltage.
  6. After reading the indicated voltage, release the switch.

Is there voltage present?

Replace the multifunction lever. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard or Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Is the washer pump still inoperative?

--

Go to Step 12

  1. Connect a voltmeter between the windshield wiper motor connector cavity D in CKT 96 (BRN) and ground.
  2. Push and hold the PUSH washer switch at the multifunction lever.
  3. Read the indicated voltage.
  4. After reading the indicated voltage, release the switch.

Is there voltage present?

Replace the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the washer pump still inoperative?

Replace the multifunction lever. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard or Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Is the repair complete?
