HAZARD fuse 5 through CKT 1040 (ORN) powers at all times the multi-function alarm module. The multi-function alarm module has ground through CKT 150 (BLK) to ground G201. The multi-function alarm module produces audible warning alarms under the following conditions:

    • The driver's side safety belt is not fastened
    • The headlights remain lit
    • The park lights remain lit
    • The key remains in the ignition switch as the driver exits the vehicle

Fasten Seat Belt Warning Alarm

The safety belt lamp on the instrument cluster lights when the ignition switch is in the RUN position or in the START position. The audible alarm sounds for 5 seconds. The safety belt lamp flashes after 15 seconds. The light automatically extinguishes and the audible alarm automatically silences by fastening the seat belt. Fastening the driver's side seat belt opens the contacts in the seat belt switch. This action opens the ground path to ground G201 through CKT 238 (BLK/WHT) and CKT 150 (BLK). The multi-function alarm module senses that the seat belt is fastened. When the ignition switch is in the RUN position or in the START position, the multi-function alarm module senses voltage from GAUGES fuse 4 through CKT 39 (PNK). An unfastened seat belt and the ignition switch in the RUN position or the START position meet the alarm conditions. However, a timing circuit in the module inhibits the alarm after 5 seconds when the conditions remain present. The alarm remains inhibited after the seat belt opens following the 5-second delay.

Key-In Warning Alarm

The key-in warning alarm is present when the key remains in the ignition switch and the driver door opens. The alarm remains present until the removal of the key or the closing of the door. The multi-function alarm module senses that the key is in the ignition switch and the door is open by the ground path to CKT 80 (LT GRN) through the following paths:

    • The key-in warning switch in the steering column
    • CKT 159 (TAN)
    • The left front door jamb switch
    • CKT 150 (BLK) to ground.

For recreational vehicles with upfitter provisions, the ground is G200 and G201. For all other vehicles, the ground is G201. Any open path in the ground path inhibits the alarm.

Lamp-On Warning Alarm

The lamps-on warning alarm is present when the headlights or the park lights remain on when the ignition switch is in the OFF position. The alarm remains present until the lights are turned off or until the ignition switch moves to the RUN position or to the START position.

With the headlamps or the parking lamps lighted, the multi-function alarm module senses voltage from the PARK LPS fuse 9 through the following path:

    • CKT 240 (ORN)
    • The headlamp switch
    • The instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch
    • CKT 44 (DK GRN)
    • ILLUM fuse 14
    • CKT 8 (GRY)

When the IP dimmer switch adjustment is for very dim illumination, the voltage sensed at the multi-function alarm module is sometimes too small for setting the logic and enabling the alarm. Verify the alarm function with an adjustment for the maximum illumination at the IP dimmer switch.

When the ignition switch is in the RUN position or in the START position, the multi-function alarm module senses voltage from GAUGES fuse 4 through CKT 39 (PNK). Voltage is present from the IP dimmer switch but not from GAUGES fuse 4 meets the alarm conditions.
