Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  2. Drain the cooling system below the level of the sensor.

  3. Object Number: 26963  Size: SH
  4. Remove the harness connector from the ECT sensor by releasing the locking tab.

  5. Object Number: 26943  Size: SH
  6. Remove the ECT sensor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 26943  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the ECT sensor into the engine.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the ECT sensor to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the harness connector.
  4. Refill the coolant system.
  5. Important: Ensure that the PCM electrical harness is properly routed to avoid contact with the engine cover during installation.

  6. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
