Schematic Reference: Audible Warnings Schematics

DEFINITION: One or more chime functions are inoperative.

1. Insert the key into the ignition, with the ignition OFF.
2. Open the driver door.

Does the chime activate?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

1. Remove the key from the ignition.
2. Turn the headlamps ON.

Does the chime activate?

Go to Step 8

1. Insert the key into the ignition, with the ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect the driver door jamb switch .
3. Connect a 3 ampere fused jumper between the driver door switch signal circuit and a good ground.

Does the chime activate?

Go to Step 7

1. Disconnect the ignition key alarm switch .
2. Connect a 3 ampere fused jumper between the key-in-ignition switch signal circuit and a good ground.

Does the chime activate?

Test the signal circuit of the driver door jamb switch for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 16

Test the ground circuit of the driver door jamb switch for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the instrument panel lamp supply voltage circuit for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the signal circuit of the ignition key alarm switch for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the multifunction alarm module (MFAM). Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door jamb switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver door jamb switch. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Replacement in Doors.

Replace the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column.
