Remover
Removal Procedure
Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a
hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
- Raise the vehicle.
Caution: Floor jack must remain under the lower control arm during
removal and installation to retain the lower control arm in position. Failure
to do so could result in personal injury.
- Support the
vehicle with suitable safety stands.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
Notice: Support the caliper with a piece of wire to prevent damage to the brake
line.
- Remove the
front brake caliper. Refer to
Brake Caliper Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the hub/rotor. Refer to
Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement
.
Important: Do not damage the wheel mounting surface on the hub/rotor flange.
Support the hub/rotor using the J 9746-02
and the press bars.
- Remove the wheel stud using a press.
Installation Procedure
- Install the wheel hub
stud in the rotor where the old stud was removed.
- Place 4 washers and a nut on the stud.
- Tighten until the stud is fully seated in the hub/rotor.
- Install the hub/rotor. Refer to
Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement
in Front Suspension.
- Adjust the wheel bearings. Refer to
Wheel Bearing Adjustment
.
- Install the brake caliper. Refer to
Brake Caliper Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the safety stands.
- Lower the vehicle.
