Removal Procedure
Important: Two piece propeller shafts are system balanced. Service kits are available as follows.

• | Propeller shaft slip yoke boot kit |
Service to other parts of the two piece propeller shaft is by assembly only.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Support the propeller shaft with safety stands.
- Remove the center bearing bolts (3).
- Remove the center bearing from the bracket.
- Remove the propeller shaft hanger bolts.
- Remove the propeller shaft hanger.
- Remove the bolts (1) and the yoke retainers (2) from the rear axle pinion yoke (4).
- Disconnect the propeller shaft (3) from the rear axle pinion yoke (4).
- Remove the propeller shaft by sliding it rearward from the transmission.
Installation Procedure
- Install the propeller shaft to the transmission.
- Connect the propeller shaft (3) to the rear axle pinion yoke (4).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the bolts (1) and the yoke retainers (2) to the rear axle pinion yoke (4).
Tighten
Tighten the rear axle pinion yoke retainer bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the propeller shaft hanger.
- Install the propeller shaft hanger bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the propeller shaft hanger bolts to 52 N·m (38 lb ft).
- Install the center bearing to the bracket.
- Install the center bearing bolts (3).
Tighten
Tighten the center bearing bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.
