Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Lower Right Side LLY, LBZ

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1731887 Size: SH
  1. Remove the upper right valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Right Side .
  2. Remove the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  3. Remove the fuel injector return line clip from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler tube bracket stud.
  4. Remove the EGR cooler tube bracket bolt and nut.

  5. Remove the rear EGR cooler tube bracket bolts and bracket.

    6. Object Number: 1335929 Size: SH
  6. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  7. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  8. Remove the gasket from the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  9. Inspect the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket for damage, replace if necessary. Otherwise reuse the old gasket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1335929 Size: SH
  1. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  2. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  3. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1411029 Size: SH
  4. Tighten the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 10 N路m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 1732098 Size: SH
  5. Install the rear EGR cooler tube bracket and bolts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N路m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the EGR cooler tube bracket bolt and nut.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt and nut to 20 N路m (15 lb ft).

  7. Install the fuel injector return line clip to the EGR cooler tube bracket stud.
  8. Install the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  9. Install the right upper valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Right Side .

Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Lower Right Side LMM

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1731887 Size: SH
  1. Remove the upper right valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Right Side .
  2. Remove the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  3. Remove the fuel injector return pipe clamp and reposition the pipe off the stud.
  4. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler tube bracket bolt and nut.
  5. Remove the right side fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Rail Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement - Right Side .
  6. Remove the generator mounting bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement .

  7. Remove the rear EGR cooler tube bracket bolts and bracket.

    8. Object Number: 1335929 Size: SH
  8. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  9. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  10. Remove the gasket from the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  11. Inspect the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket for damage, replace if necessary. Otherwise reuse the old gasket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  2. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover.
  3. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1411029 Size: SH
  4. Tighten the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 10 N路m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 1732098 Size: SH
  5. Install the rear EGR cooler tube bracket and bolts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N路m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the EGR cooler tube bracket bolt and nut.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt and nut to 20 N路m (15 lb ft).

  7. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement .
  8. Install the right side fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Rail Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement - Right Side .
  9. Install the fuel injector return pipe clamp and reposition on the stud.
  10. Install the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  11. Install the right upper valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Upper Right Side .
