Removal Procedure
Note: In order to completely drain the oil from the oil pan internal baffling, the bottom of the oil pan must be level during the oil drain procedure.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the oil fill cap.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Place a oil drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
- Remove the oil pan drain plug.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Wipe the excess oil from the drain plug hole and plug.
- Remove the oil filter from the engine block.
Note: Check the old oil filter to ensure that the filter seal is not left on the engine block.
- Wipe the excess oil from the oil filter mounting.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil.
- Install the oil filter to the engine block and tighten to
30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Install the oil drain plug to the engine block and tighten to
25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the crankcase with the proper quantity and grade of engine oil. Refer to
Approximate Fluid Capacities and
Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.
- Remove the oil level indicator.
- Wipe the indicator with a clean cloth.
- Install the oil level indicator.
- Remove the oil level indicator in order to check the level.
- Add oil if necessary.
- Close the hood.
