Removal Procedure
Warning: If a window is cracked but still intact, crisscross the window with masking tape in order to reduce the risk of damage or personal injury.
Note: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
- When replacing or removing the left side stationary window. Refer to
Body Side Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side.
- When replacing or removing the right side stationary window. Refer to
Body Side Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side.
Warning: If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.
- Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
• | The defroster outlets and A/C outlets |
Warning: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.
- Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:

Note: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.
- This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the window.
• | Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange. |
• | The only suitable lubrication is clear water. |
- Remove the stationary window from the pinchweld flange with the aid of an assistant.
Installation Procedure
- Install a stationary window into the opening. Refer to
Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows.
- When replacing or installing the left side stationary window. Refer to
Body Side Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side.
- When replacing or installing the right side stationary window. Refer to
Body Side Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side.
- Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
Body Side Window Replacement Swing Out
Removal Procedure
The latched side window is a one-piece assembly that includes the following components:
Warning: Refer to Glass and Sheet Metal Handling Warning in the Preface section.
- Remove the screws that retain the latch to the vehicle.
- Remove the nuts (3) that retain the hinge to the vehicle.
- Remove the window assembly from the vehicle.
Do not replace the weatherstrip (2) unless the weatherstrip is damaged.
Installation Procedure
- Install the window assembly to the vehicle.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the nuts (3) that retain the hinge to the vehicle and tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the screws that retain the latch to the vehicle and tighten to
3 N·m (27 lb in).
