Some customers may comment on an engine oil leak. Upon further investigation, the technician may find fluid leaking from the engine oil cooler pipe to oil pan connection.
The leak may be caused by oil pan casting porosity at the engine oil cooler bolt cavity.
Verify that the leak is coming from the engine oil cooler pipe to oil pan connection by use of oil dye in the engine. Refer to Oil Leak Diagnosis in SI. Clean the suspected area of all residual oil and drive the vehicle to see if the dye begins to appear. If the leak is coming from the engine oil cooler pipe to oil pan connection, perform the procedure outlined below.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
