Fuel Tank Cover Replacement for Chevrolet Express (CNG) 2005

1. Remove the weight distributing hitch if equipped. Refer to Trailer Weight Distributor Hitch Platform Replacement in Frame and Underbody in the G/H Van Service Manual.



2. Remove the tank shield bolts while an assistant holds the shield in place.
3. Lower the shield from the vehicle.

1. Position the shield around the tank frame .




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. While an assistant holds the shield in place, loosely install the shield retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

3. Install the weight distributing hitch if equipped. Refer to Trailer Weight Distributor Hitch Platform Replacement in Frame and Underbody in the G/H Van Service Manual.
