Installation Instructions -- Emergency Lamp Wiring

The maximum rated load of the emergency lamp power supply is 21 amps or 250 watts. Your equipment requirements must not exceed 21 amps or 250 watts.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable at the battery. The negative (-) battery cable must be disconnected before the wiring lead is routed to the lamp location.
  2. Locate the bundle of positive and negative wires along the frame rail, under the back of the cab. Carefully untie and unwind the wires.
  3. Route both the positive (brown) and negative (black) wires to the emergency lamp. Protect the wires from chafing or cutting by avoiding moving vehicle parts. Wrap wires with tape or wire loom near sharp edges. Use grommets when passing through holes.
  4. Connect the positive (brown) wire to the load or hot wire of the lamp with an insulated connector. Connect the negative (black) wire to the ground wire or to the base of the lamp.
  5. Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable to the battery. Torque the battery cable bolt to 11 lb-ft (15 N·m).
  6. Set the clock time and radio preset buttons and Theft-Deterrent feature as needed. See "Audio Systems" in the Owner's Manual.
