Suction Hose Replacement 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 924799  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement .
  3. Remove the suction line nut (1) from the accumulator.
  4. Remove the rear suction line nut (2) if equipped with rear air.
  5. Remove the suction line bolt from the compressor.
  6. Remove the suction line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 924799  Size: SH
  1. Install the suction line into the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the suction line bolt to the compressor.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear suction line nut (2) if equipped with rear air.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  7. Install the suction line nut (1) to the accumulator.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  9. Install the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement .
  10. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .

Suction Hose Replacement 6.6L

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
  4. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

  5. Object Number: 1652913  Size: SH
  6. Remove the suction hose mounting bolt (2) from the A/C compressor.
  7. Remove the suction hose (3) from the A/C compressor.

  8. Object Number: 1653105  Size: SH
  9. Remove the suction hose nut from the accumulator.
  10. Remove the suction hose from the accumulator.
  11. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
  12. Discard all of the used sealing washers. Cap the system openings.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install new sealing washers to the suction hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  2. Install the suction hose to the vehicle.

  3. Object Number: 1653105  Size: SH
  4. Install the suction hose to the accumulator.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the suction hose to accumulator retaining nut.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  8. Install the suction hose (3) to the A/C compressor.
  9. Install the suction hose to compressor mounting bolt (2).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  11. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  12. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
  13. Install the surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
  14. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  15. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
