J 37228 Seal Cutter

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1334843  Size: SH
  1. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector from the oil level sensor.

  3. Object Number: 1334845  Size: SH
  4. Remove the lower oil pan bolts.
  5. Important: Do not damage the sealing surfaces when separating the lower oil pan from the upper oil pan.

  6. Separate the lower oil pan from the upper oil pan using the J 37228 .
  7. Remove the lower oil pan.

  9. If replacing the lower oil pan perform the following steps, otherwise proceed to step 4 in the installation procedure.
  10. Remove the oil level sensor retaining clip (3).
  11. Remove the oil level sensor bolt (2) and sensor (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. If the lower oil pan was replaced perform the following steps, otherwise proceed to step 4.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: When routing the oil level sensor wire, ensure that the wire is routed along the side of the oil pan.

  3. Install the oil level sensor (1) and bolt (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Install the oil level sensor retaining clip (3).

  6. Object Number: 663817  Size: SH
  7. Apply a 2-3 mm wide by 0.5-1.5 mm high bead of sealant to the lower oil pan mating surface. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .

  8. Object Number: 1334845  Size: SH
  9. Install the lower oil pan.

  10. Object Number: 793979  Size: SH
  11. Install the lower oil pan bolts and nuts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts and nuts in the sequence shown to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  13. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the oil level sensor.
