Does one of the dome fluorescent work lamps remain on when manually turned On, and then OFF?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON one of the dome fluorescent work lamps.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition.
  4. Wait 12-15 minutes for the body control module (BCM) to time out, turning off the dome fluorescent work lamp.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 4

Disconnect the dome fluorescent work lamp relay.

Is the dome fluorescent work lamp illuminated?

Go to Step 8

Test for a ground signal at the dome fluorescent work lamp relay control circuit of the dome fluorescent work lamp relay.

Is a ground signal present?

Go to Step 6

Test the dome fluorescent work lamp relay control circuit for short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs.

Repair the dome fluorescent work lamp signal circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Replace the dome fluorescent lamps relay. Refer to Relay Replacement.

Replace the dome fluorescent work lamp.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
