Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1545576 Size: SH
  1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation hose from the valve rocker arm cover.

    4. Object Number: 543569 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) gage sensor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the ECT gage sensor connector from the bracket.
  6. Remove the spark plug wires for the left side of the engine from the distributor cap.
  7. Remove the air conditioning compressor discharge hose, if equipped. Refer to Discharge Hose Replacement .
  8. Remove the air conditioning compressor suction hose, if equipped. Refer to Suction Hose Replacement .

  9. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    10. Object Number: 480519 Size: SH
  10. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 328573 Size: SH

    Important: Do not reuse the valve cover gasket or the valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets.

  1. Install the NEW valve rocker arm cover gasket into the groove of the valve rocker arm cover.
  2. Install the NEW valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets into the valve rocker arm cover.

    3. Object Number: 480519 Size: SH
  3. Install the valve rocker arm cover onto the cylinder head.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 328566 Size: SH
  4. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Install the air conditioning compressor discharge hose, if equipped. Refer to Discharge Hose Replacement .
  6. Install the air conditioning compressor suction hose, if equipped. Refer to Suction Hose Replacement .

    7. Object Number: 543569 Size: SH
  7. Connect the spark plug wires to the distributor cap.
  8. Install the ECT gage sensor electrical connector to the bracket.
  9. Connect the ECT gage sensor electrical connector.

    10. Object Number: 1545576 Size: SH
  10. Install the PCV hose to the valve rocker arm cover.
  11. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  12. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
