The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
The SIR Lamp is on with a DTC B0012 Symptom 02 or 04 set in the SDM. This can be caused by a shorted or cut wire behind the driver's side air bag.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Remove the driver's side air bag and inspect the wire harness between the air bag and the SIR coil for a chaffed or cut wire. If the wire is cut or chaffed, replace the SIR coil part number 15945451 which will include the harness.
It will be necessary to make sure the protective tubing (yellow sleeve) on the new harness is pushed all way up to the SIR connector End point (See # 1 in photo above) . It will also be necessary to add electrical tape to the other end of the harness (See # 2 in photo above), to hold the protective tubing in place.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
