Fuel Tank Siphon Hose
Important: Purge any residual fuel in
J 45004
into an approved container prior to use.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Remove the fuel fill cap.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Insert the
J 45004
hose into the tank (1).
- Attach the
J 45004
hose to the hose used with the hand or air operated pump devise (2).
- Using a hand or air operated pump drain as much fuel from the tank as possible.
Fuel Tank Draining with L59
Warning: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Warning in the Preface section.
- Remove the fuel filler cap.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Clean the area around the fuel filler pipe to tank connection.
- Place a drain pan under the fuel filler pipe connection.
- Disconnect the fuel fill hose (1) at the fuel tank.
- Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel through the fuel tank filler pipe opening as possible.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- If not removing the fuel tank, connect the fuel fill hose to the fuel tank and tighten the clamp to
2.75 N·m (24 lb in).
