    • J 44643 Flywheel Holding Tool
    • J 45059 Angle Meter

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 660308 Size: SH
  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  2. Install the J 44643 in order to lock the flywheel.

    3. Object Number: 1334818 Size: SH
  3. Remove and discard the flywheel bolts.
  4. Remove the flywheel washer.
  5. Remove the flywheel assembly.
  6. Remove the J 44643 .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1334818 Size: SH
  1. Install the flywheel to the crankshaft.
  2. Install the flywheel washer to the flywheel with the beveled side facing the engine.

    3. Caution: This component uses bolts with a preapplied molybdenum disulfide coating for thread lubrication. Do not remove the coating or use any additional lubricant. Improperly lubricated threads will adversely affect the bolt torque and clamp load. Improper bolt torque and clamp load can lead to engine damage.

  3. Install NEW flywheel bolts until snug.

    4. Object Number: 660308 Size: SH
  4. Install the J 44643 in order to lock the flywheel.

    5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 663928 Size: SH
  5. Tighten the flywheel bolts in the sequence shown.
    6. • Tighten the bolts a first pass to 79 N·m (59 lb ft).
    • Tighten the bolts a second pass an additional 60 degrees using the J 45059 .
    • Tighten the bolts a final pass an additional 60 degrees using the J 45059 .
  6. Remove the J 44643 .
  7. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
