Auxiliary Air Conditioning Evaporator and Auxiliary Heater Hose Replacement - Intermediate Gasoline

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  3. Remove the lower fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Lower Shroud Replacement
  4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  5. Remove the exhaust tailpipe heat shield covering the intermediate heater, a/c tubes. Refer to Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement - Body Panel.
  6. Loosen but DO NOT remove driver side body mount bolts.
  7. Remove passenger side body mount bolts.
  8. Slowly lift the passenger side of the body off the frame and support.
  9. Use J 38185 to release the radiator hose clamp.

  3. Remove the fan and clutch assembly. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement
  4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  5. Remove the exhaust tailpipe heat shield covering the intermediate heater, a/c tubes. Refer to Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement - Body Panel.
