Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1631765 Size: SH
  1. Lower the rear axle assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Replacement for the appropriate steps.
  2. Remove the exhaust muffler nuts.

    3. Object Number: 1631769 Size: SH
  3. To aid in removal, spray lubricant onto the hanger insulators.
  4. With an assistant supporting the exhaust muffler assembly, separate the exhaust hanger insulators from the underbody exhaust hangers.
  5. With the aid of the assistant, remove the exhaust muffler assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1631769 Size: SH
  1. To aid in installation, spray lubricant onto the hanger insulators.
  2. With the aid of the assistant, position the exhaust muffler assembly.
  3. With the assistant supporting the exhaust muffler assembly , install the exhaust hanger insulators to the underbody exhaust hangers.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1631765 Size: SH
  4. Install the exhaust muffler nuts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 46 N·m (34 lb ft).

  5. Raise the rear axle assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Replacement for the appropriate steps.
