Removal Procedure
- Remove the instrument panel (I/P) sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement.
- Remove the cruise control release switch from the switch retainer. Rotate the switch counterclockwise to release the switch.
- Disconnect the cruise control release switch electrical connector.
- Remove the switch retainer from the pedal bracket, if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the switch retainer to the pedal bracket with the retainer indexing arrow facing down, if previously removed.
- Connect the cruise control release switch electrical connector.
- Pull back lightly on the brake pedal to ensure the system is fully released.
- While lightly holding the pedal, install and adjust the cruise release switch:
- Release the brake pedal and inspect the switch barrel to switch contact rubber bumper clearance (1).
- Ensure the following contacts open at 25.4 mm (1 in) or less of pedal travel:
- Ensure the switches open simultaneously or before the onset of braking.
- The brake pedal may travel up to 25.4 mm (1 in) before the cruise control system disengages.
- Install the I/P sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement.
| 4.1. | Insert the cruise release switch into the retainer. |
| 4.2. | Ensure the switch plunger is fully depressed against the switch contact rubber bumper without deflecting the bracket or the switch contact arm on the pedal. |
| 4.3. | Rotate the switch clockwise to secure the switch in the retainer. |
Specification
Clearance should not exceed 1.2 mm (0.047 in).
