Removal Procedure
- Remove the driver knee bolster reinforcement. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement
.
- Remove the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to
Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement
.
- Remove the steering column mounting bolts.
- Support the lower steering column as needed.
- Remove the steering column jacket bolts and slide the steering column jacket off the steering column shaft.
Installation Procedure
Important: The steering column shaft splines must be free of dirt and debris.
- Clean the steering column shaft splines
- Use the supplied grease to apply 2 grams (0.07 oz) of grease to the steering column shaft splines.
- Slide the steering column jacket over the steering column shaft and into place.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the steering column jacket bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
- Install the steering column mounting bolts.
Tighten
- Tighten the right steering column mounting bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten the left steering column mounting bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the driver knee bolster reinforcement. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement
.
- Install the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to
Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement
