Dome Lamp Inoperative When Opening Rear Hatch (Reprogram BCM)

Subject:Dome Lamp Inoperative When Opening Rear Hatch (Reprogram BCM)

Models:2007 Chevrolet HHR
Built Prior to VIN Breakpoint 7S521064

Condition

With the dome lamp selector switch in the door position, some customers may comment that the dome lamp is inoperative when opening the rear hatch, even though the dome lamp still operates when the doors are opened.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a Body Control Module (BCM) software anomaly.

Correction

Technicians are to reprogram the BCM with an updated software calibration. The updated BCM calibrations were released to dealerships that use the TIS2web application on September 18, 2006. For dealerships that use DVDs, the update was included with version 9.5 that was mailed on September 25, 2006. As always make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version. Refer to the Body Control Module Programming and Setup procedure in SI for more information.
