Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 623138 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector.

    2. Object Number: 623141 Size: SH
  2. Remove the retainer bolt.

    3. Object Number: 12407 Size: SH
  3. Remove the retainer.
  4. Pull up on the VSS in order to remove the VSS from the transaxle.
  5. Remove the O-ring.

Installation Procedure
  1. Lubricate a new O-ring with DEXRON III transmission fluid.
  2. Install the new O-ring.

    3. Object Number: 12407 Size: SH
  3. Install the VSS assembly.
  4. Install the VSS retainer.

    5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 623141 Size: SH
  5. Install the VSS retainer bolt.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (8 lb ft).


    Object Number: 12406 Size: SH
  6. Connect the VSS connector to the VSS.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
