Preliminary Procedure

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 2.2 L engine or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 2.4 L engine.
4. Remove the instrument panel tie bar. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement.
5. Disconnect the HVAC Module electrical connectors.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
7 N·m (62 lb in)

Sealing Washer

Tip
Remove and discard sealing washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement.

Heater Outlet Hose

Tip
Use J 38185 to reposition clamp on the heater outlet hose from the heater core.

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Heater Inlet Hose

Tip
Use J 38185 to reposition clamp on the heater inlet hose from the heater core.

HVAC Module Assembly Nut (Qty: 2)

Tighten
10 N·m (89 lb in)
