The mode selector gear mechanism of vacuum rotary valve and slide rack may slip out of engagement on the above vehicles, causing the mode selector to be inoperative.
This condition can be repaired by a new service package, P/N 1228343, without replacing the complete control assembly.
The new service package contains a slide rack and rotary valve assembly.
1. Remove control assembly from I.P.
2. Replace slide rack and rotary valve making sure that the locating pin on rotary gear is aligned in the center of "V" slot on slide rack.
3. Reinstall control assembly to I.P.
