Coolant Heater Cord Replacement 3.4L

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 296201  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the engine block heater cord from the engine block heater.

  4. Object Number: 628712  Size: SH
  5. Remove the engine block heater cord straps.
  6. Disconnect the upper engine block heater cord from the diagonal brace strap.
  7. Remove the engine block heater cord.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 628712  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine block heater cord.
  2. Connect the engine block heater cord to the diagonal brace strap.

  3. Object Number: 296201  Size: SH
  4. Install the new engine block heater cord straps.
  5. Connect the engine block heater cord to the engine block heater.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Coolant Heater Cord Replacement 3.8L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 628712  Size: SH
  1. Remove the coolant heater cord retainer from the upper radiator support.

  2. Object Number: 628727  Size: SH
  3. Cut the coolant heater cord straps at the engine wiring harness.
  4. Disconnect the coolant heater cord from the coolant heater.
  5. Remove the coolant heater cord from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 628727  Size: SH

    Notice: The heater cord must not touch the engine, hot pipes, manifold, or any moving parts. Route the cord to the left front of the engine compartment securing with tie straps as necessary to prevent damage.

  1. Install the coolant heater cord to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the coolant heater cord to the coolant heater.
  3. Install a new coolant heater cord straps at the engine wiring harness.

  4. Object Number: 628712  Size: SH
  5. Install the coolant heater cord retainer to the upper radiator support.
