Removal Procedure
- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Remove the left instrument
panel sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable (5) from accelerator pedal (1).
- Remove the bolts (2) and the studs (3) holding the
accelerator pedal to the bulkhead (4).
- Remove the accelerator pedal.
Installation Procedure
- Install the accelerator
pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the accelerator
pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts and the studs to 20 N·m (15 lb ft)
- Connect the accelerator cable (5) to accelerator pedal (1).
- Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by
operating the accelerator pedal. The throttle should operate freely and without
binding between full-closed and wide-open throttle. Inspect for poor
carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
- Install the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel,
Gauges, and Console.
