Important: The throttle should operate freely without binding between a full closed and a wide open throttle.

    Object Number: 12287 Size: SH
  1. Position the accelerator pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the accelerator pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).
  4. Tighten
The accelerator pedal assembly bolts and studs to 3.0  N·m (27 lb in)

  5. Connect the accelerator cable (5) to the accelerator pedal (1).
  6. Reinstall the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  7. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
