Bind in steering gear

1. Inspect for correct rack bearing preload adjustment. Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .
2. Inspect the power steering gear and related components for damage. Refer to Power Steering System Inspection
3. Test the power steering system components. Refer to Power Steering System Test
4. Replace the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Catch in steering gear

1. Inspect for correct rack bearing preload adjustment. Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .
2. Inspect the power steering gear and related components for damage. Refer to Power Steering System Inspection
3. Test the power steering system components. Refer to Power Steering System Test
4. Replace the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Low power steering fluid

Inspect for internal leaking in the steering components.

Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .

Plastic boot on intermediate steering shaft is out of position

Inspect the plastic boot on the intermediate steering shaft. Replace the plastic boot on the intermediate shaft.

Intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt torque too high

Tighten the intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt to specification.
