Action

Air in the power steering fluid

  1. Inspect the power steering fluid.
  2. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Low fluid level due to one of the following conditions:

    • Improper initial fill of the power steering system
    • Power steering system leak
  1. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .
  2. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Loose power steering pump mounting

Tighten the power steering pump mounting to specification.

Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The power steering pressure line is grounding out

  1. Inspect the power steering pressure hose.
  2. Adjust the power steering pressure hose for proper mounting and clearance. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
