Action

Air in the power steering system

  1. Inspect the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Inspection .
  2. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Loose/worn joints from the steering column to the power steering gear

  1. Inspect the joints from the steering column to the power steering gear for the correct torque.
  2. Replace the joints from the steering column to the power steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .

Loose steering gear

Tighten the steering gear mounting bolts to specification. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Loose tie rod ends

  1. Inspect the tie rod ends. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
  2. Replace the tie rod ends. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .

Worn wheel bearings

Replace the following components:

    • The hub. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Bearing Replacement in Front Suspension.
    • The wheel bearings. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Bearing Replacement in Front Suspension.

Too much play in steering

Refer to Too Much Play in Steering .
