Problem

Action

Front wheels out of alignment

  1. Inspect the front wheel alignment.
  2. Perform a front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.

Rear wheels out of alignment

  1. Inspect the rear wheel alignment.
  2. Perform a rear wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.

Misadjusted rack preload

Tighten the rack preload adjustment to specification.

Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .

Broken/sagging spring

  1. Inspect the broken/sagging springs. Refer to Strut, Strut Component, and Spring Replacement in Front Suspension or Strut Assembly Replacement in Rear Suspension.
  2. Replace the broken/sagging springs. Refer to Strut, Strut Component, and Spring Replacement in Front Suspension or Strut Assembly Replacement in Rear Suspension.

Loose stabilizer shaft

  1. Inspect the following components:
  2. • The stabilizer shaft mounting bolts
    • The stabilizer shaft links
  3. Tighten the stabilizer shaft and the stabilizer shaft links mounting bolts to specification. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement and Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Front Suspension or Stabilizer Shaft Replacement and Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Rear Suspension.
  4. Replace the stabilizer shaft and the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement and Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Front Suspension or Stabilizer Shaft Replacement and Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Rear Suspension.

Worn struts

  1. Inspect the struts for wear. Refer to Struts or Shock Absorbers Weak in Suspension General Diagnosis.
  2. Replace the struts. Refer to Strut, Strut Component, and Spring Replacement in Front Suspension or Strut Assembly Replacement in Rear Suspension.

Uneven/misaligned tires

  1. Inspect the the tires. Refer to Tire Diagnosis - Irregular or Premature Wear in Tires and Wheels.
  2. Replace the tires. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Inspect the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
  4. Perform the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
