Power Steering Hoses Replacement 3.8L
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Front Suspension.
- Remove the power steering
return hose from the power steering pump.
- Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering
cooler pipe.
- Remove the rubber section of the power steering return hose from
the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rubber section
of the power steering return hose to the vehicle.
- Install the power steering return hose to the power steering cooler
pipe.
- Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Front Suspension.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the power steering system. Refer to
Refilling the Power Steering System
.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to
Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks
.
Power Steering Hoses Replacement 3.4L
Removal Procedure
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
- Remove the clamps from the power steering return line to the power
steering pump.
- Remove the rubber section of hose that connects the power steering
return line to the power steering pump.
- Remove the rubber section of the power steering return line from
the vehicle.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the clamps from
the power steering return line and the power steering cooler pipe.
- Remove the rubber section of hose that connects the power steering
return line to the power steering cooler pipe.
- Remove the rubber section of the power steering return line from
the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the rubber
section of the power steering return line to the vehicle.
- Install the rubber section of hose that connects the power steering
return line to the power steering cooler pipe.
- Install the clamps to the power steering return line and the power
steering cooler pipe.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Position the rubber section of the power steering return line
to the vehicle.
- Install the rubber section of hose that connects the power steering
return line to the power steering pump.
- Install the clamps to the rubber section of hose that connects
the power steering return line to the power steering pump.
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Fill the power steering system. Refer to
Refilling the Power Steering System
.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to
Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks
.
