A missing/broken bearing preload spring

1. Inspect the bearing preload spring.
2. Replace the spring as needed.

Damaged or missing anti-lash spring in the spheres

1. Inspect the anti-lash spring in the spheres.
2. Replace the spheres as needed.

Excessive clearance between holes in support and pivot pin diameters.

1. Clean the affected components.
2. Inspect the affected components.
3. Replace the affected components.

Loose support screws

Torque the support screws to the proper specifications.

Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

A missing upper bearing inner race seat

Install the seat.

Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .

The upper bearing is not seated

1. Inspect the upper bearing.
2. Use the correct special tool in order to seat the bearing
