For 1990-2009 cars only
- If reusing the original inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil, refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle .
- A new inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil will come precentered. Do not remove the orange tab until installation is complete.
- Align the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (2) with the horn tower sticking through the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
- Install the retaining ring (1).
- If a new inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil was installed, remove and discard the orange tab.
- Reconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector.
- Install new wire harness straps onto the wire harness assembly (1).
- Pop the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness strap (2).
- Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Trim Covers, Shift Lever Seal - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
Important: Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly to the 12 o'clock position.
Important: The retaining ring (1) must seat in the groove of the race and upper shaft assembly (2).
